Description The Jeff Rouse Swim and Sports Center is currently accepting applications for Youth Sports Coach - Tumbling. The Youth Sports Coach is responsible for teaching and supervising youth development classes of up to 15 students per class. The Youth Sports Coach reports directly to the Youth Development Director and Youth Program Director.
The coach is the primary point-of-contact for students and parents and is expected to deliver excellent customer service. Not only will the coach spend time with new students and parents to orient them to the program, but also greet and converse with all participants before and/or after each class. In addition to being able to answer questions related to the youth sports program, the coach is expected to have a detailed knowledge of the facility and other programs which may be applicable.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up and take down instructional equipment before and after each class
- Supervise children and ensure the playing/performance area is safe for all participants
- Work irregular shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Maintain current qualifications in accordance with program standards
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed, required, or assigned by the Youth Development Director, Youth Program Director and/or the General Manager
Requirements - Desire to work with children 18 months to 9 years of age
- Strong verbal communication skills
- High energy and enthusiasm throughout all classes
- Demonstrated leadership capability, preferably with target age group(s)
- Strong time-management skills to ensure all goals of each class are met
- Commitment to work the same hour(s) each day for 10-13 consecutive weeks
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience: No formal or informal education is required. Experience working with groups of children is highly desirable.
Language Skills: Ability to communicate course objectives and performance feedback to students and parents in English. Other language skills are desirable.
Computer Skills: Use of a windows-based workstation to access web-based instructional materials is required.

Work Environment: Classes are normally held indoors in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment. Some classes may be held outdoors in summer weather conditions (except rain/thunderstorm conditions). The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
