• WATER USE INSPECTOR (All 5 Boroughs)

Starting Pay: $41,759.00 – $45,769.00/yr.

Job Duties:

• Read, inspect, test, repair, and replace water meters and AMR devices.
• Install and maintain meter reading MTU equipment and remote wiring.
• Serve notices for defective water meters.
• Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with water use regulations.
• Report leaks and water waste and inspect plumbing for cross-connections and contamination risks.
• Evaluate work by licensed plumbers for regulatory compliance.
• Testify at the Environmental Control Board when necessary.
• Collect and report data on water and sewer usage.

Requirements:

• Graduation from an approved trade, vocational, or technical high school specializing in a mechanical trade; or
• A high school diploma (or equivalent) plus six months of recent full-time satisfactory experience in: Mechanical work as a helper or apprentice in plumbing, HVAC installation/operation, pipe fitting, or steam fitting.
• Reading and recording data from meters or measuring devices.
• A valid New York State Motor Vehicle Driver License is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• One year of full-time satisfactory mechanical experience as a helper or apprentice in the fields described above
