Position: Special Education Teacher

Location: Chatsworth, CA

Job Overview: The school is seeking a dedicated and compassionate full-time Special Education Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will provide individualized instruction and support to students with autism spectrum disorders, ensuring a nurturing and inclusive educational environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Instructional Planning and Delivery:

    • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
    • Design and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
    • Utilize evidence-based practices and instructional strategies to support student learning and progress.
  2. Assessment and Evaluation:

    • Conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate student performance, progress, and areas of need.
    • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instructional methods as necessary.
    • Prepare detailed reports on student achievements and participate in IEP meetings to review goals and progress.
  3. Classroom Management:

    • Create a positive and structured classroom environment that fosters student engagement and success.
    • Implement effective behavior management strategies to support students' social and emotional well-being.
    • Establish and maintain clear expectations, routines, and procedures.
  4. Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work collaboratively with general education teachers, support staff, and administrators to ensure a cohesive approach to student learning.
    • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
    • Participate in team meetings, providing valuable insights and recommendations for student support.
  5. Professional Development:

    • Stay current with best practices in special education and autism spectrum disorders through ongoing professional development.
    • Attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions as required.
    • Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues to enhance the overall effectiveness of the special education program.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid California Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe teaching credentials
  • Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorders, preferably in a K-12 setting.
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
