Job Description

Education Requirements: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 10 years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 8 years of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred. Clearance Requirements : Ability to obtain a Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required. ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES: As a Senior Principal Cloud DevOps and Platform Engineer, you will: Work on the hardest Platform engineering problems involving heavy creativity and innovation, sometimes involving open areas of research Lead major feature advancements in our products Become a subject matter expert in our Platform automation and architecture Lead research spikes to integrate new capabilities into our Platform Help break down work and contribute to roadmapping sessions Help set technical objectives for the team Develop automation to create and maintain several PaaS deployments Automatically configure and deploy PaaS infrastructure consisting of identity and access management, network architecture, application security, logging, monitoring, deployment and more Interface with internal and external customers to deploy solutions and deliver workshops to educate and empower them Work closely with our team to plan major updates and enhancements to our products Guide engineering teams in evolving Cloud technologies In this role, you are the Platform Engineer working with Critical internal and external Platform Consumers. Together with the team, you will support successful implementation of a PaaS in the Cloud through architecture guidance, best practices, data migration, implementation, troubleshooting, monitoring, and more. Candidates should have demonstrated strengths and experience in some of the following areas: Experience working with, or are familiar with the differences between, public (AWS, Azure), private (RHOSP, VIO), and mixed cloud environments Container technologies such as Docker, or Kubernetes Deployment of continuous integration and continuous deployment technologies such as GitLab, Jenkins, Puppet, or Chef Experience maintaining production-grade applications in virtualized environments (cloud computing platforms and services) using automation Creation of pipelines, Ansible Playbooks, and/or Terraform configurations to automate administrative actions from resource creation to service configuration Effective communication and attention to detail Other beneficial experience: IT security practices including encryption, certificates, key management, patch management, STIG, RMF, or security hardening, and auditing Installation of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) technologies such as Amazon Web Services, OpenStack, RHOSP, or VIO Management of Cloud Resources in Amazon Web Services, and/or Azure Platform as a Service (PaaS) technologies such as Kubernetes, Rancher, or OpenShift Cloud automation tooling such as Ansible, Terraform, Terragrunt, or Packer Open source server, messaging, load balancing, and database software (such as RabbitMQ, Redis, Elasticsearch) Scalable networking technologies such as Load Balancers (NGINX)/Firewalls and web standards (REST APIs, web security mechanisms) What sets you apart: Creative thinker with demonstrated success leading the systems development life cycle Collaborative team player eager to provide technical leadership and position others for success Exceptional communication, presentation, and influence management skills, with notable record of securing buy-in on concepts and ideas Experienced in the art of negotiation with ability to meet challenging customer requirements with win-win solutions Commitment to ongoing professional development for yourself and others Our Commitment to You: An exciting career path with opportunities for continuous learning and development.
