Mercer Investments LLC is seeking candidates for the following position based in the New York, NY office (a telecommuting/hybrid work schedule may be permitted within a commutable distance from the worksite, in accordance with company policies):
Senior Investment Strategy Analyst - Investment Actuary We will count on you to: Help develop, implement, and advise on pension risk management strategies for clients within Mercer's US Wealth, Investment Solutions business. Provide analytical support to asset allocation processes, coordinating with Senior Financial Strategists on dynamic glide path design, strategic asset allocation and portfolio construction. Understand asset classes, risk, and return tradeoffs, plan design, liability features, and plan sponsor constraints to develop investment strategies. Partner with Client Portfolio Directors to develop and present results of asset-liability studies, glide path reviews, and portfolio structure reviews. Model pension liabilities and fixed income portfolios utilizing internal and external risk models to assess risk exposures, including plan-specific liability duration profile and credit spread risk. Understand pension plan liabilities, design features, and risk drivers that influence hedge portfolio development. Construct hedge portfolios to manage funded status risk and portfolio tracking error versus pension liabilities and asset benchmarks, considering plan-specific liability profile, funded position, and client objectives. Provide analytics and research support for expansion of Mercer's liability-driven investing toolkit and offerings. Act as internal project manager to ensure timely production and delivery of quarterly reports, which describe the performance of the underlying investment funds and the progress a client is making on their dynamic de-risking glide path. Provide detailed risk attribution, and ongoing performance and risk analysis for liability hedging fixed income investments. Assess hedge portfolio performance and tracking error against liabilities and asset benchmarks. Review hedge overlay and LDI completion manager performance. Support sales process with customized analysis, proposed portfolios, and strategies. Manage the on-boarding process of new OCIO clients and manage ongoing activities for existing clients already on the platform. Manage the client on-boarding process for specific new clients, working closely with implementation team members, the client and with the interested Mercer lines of business (e.g., portfolio management, client solutions, operations, and Pension Strategy & Solutions Group). Take ownership of liability valuation process and daily measurement. Manage communication of new business requirements to the operations / IT team. Collaborate with teams across Mercer's Wealth business, and train junior staff.
What you need to have: Must have a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related field plus six (6) years of progressively responsible post-baccalaureate experience in the position offered or a similar actuarial role. Must have six (6) years of experience with all of the following: Pension actuarial, fixed income management and/or risk management experience; Utilizing pension risk management and understanding of investment techniques to hedge pension liabilities, considering impact of changes in discount rates, demographics, assumptions and regulations on pension liability and liability hedge portfolio construction; Pension risk management and portfolio construction, with a focus on fixed income markets and fixed income asset management; Preparing Quantitative investment risk models in MS Excel; Performing asset allocation, including review of portfolios designed to hedge pension liability. Must have Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (SOA) designation or Fellow designation in an actuarial society that the SOA has a mutual recognition agreement with; currently this includes Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK), Institute of Actuaries of Australia, and Society of Actuaries in Ireland.

[email protected] The applicable base salary range for this role is $185,910 - $185,910 per year.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
