Job Description

Pipe Welder Job Summary/Objective: The Welder/Fitter will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products by using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment. Duties/Responsibilities:

• Have a minimum of 1-2 years’ experience interpreting blueprints and drawings for accuracy
• Accurately read measuring equipment (tape measure, level, squares)
• Have experience in GTAW, GMAW and FCAW processes (preferably 2-5 years+)
• Have experience in above mentioned process welding Stainless and carbon (sched 10 and sched 40)
• Have experience in above mentioned processes welding 3”-24” diameter piping
• Be able to use positioners for piping
• Assess welds
• Have the ability to weld in 1G, 5G and 6G
• Follow and enforce all safety regulations
• Monitor machinery for appropriate usage and temperature
• Have experience using an overhead crane

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding including designs, uses, maintenance and repair.
• Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models and blueprints.
• Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and designs.
• Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.
• Outstanding attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

• A valid certificate in welding from an accredited institution is preferred.
• Mig, Tig and flux core welding knowledge.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
• Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
• Must be able to see details at close range.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
• Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
