Machinist II

1 Openings – 1st shift – starts at 5am

2 Openings – 2nd shift – 2:30pm

Location: Poway, California.

6 month temp role with possibility of extension or direct hire later

1-hour long interview

US Citizens only due to the nature of the client.

• Technical Skills: Exchange of die, overall equipment effectiveness, SMED, Continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing experience is a good thing to have
• Setting up machines and be able to answer questions.
• Help people understand how to use the machine. Need to be able to work through issues.
• Safety record – what does safety mean to you?
• Fanuc control system
• Coordinate systems.
• Know how to emergency stop if you run into an issue
• Willingness to ask for help
• Interpersonal skills – interacting with others in the department including Engineers. Need to be willing to cross train others
• Problem solving and troubleshooting
• Must be willing to learn and coachable. Grow beyond the basics
• Exposure to composites for aerospace industry is a plus
• Setup and operate 5-axis mills.
• Cleans machines and work area. Deburrs parts.
• Min 2+ years of experience + HS Diploma
• Will work on small to large parts – wings of aircraft

Job Summary:-

Under general & light supervision with detailed instructions on new activities and intermittent review of work, this position is responsible for operating and performing fabrication of machine parts by using floor-type 5-axis power mills.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Setup and operate 5-axis mills.
• Cleans machines and work area.
• Deburrs parts.
• Performs kitting of production tools, fixtures, cutters and pre-cut raw material.
• After complete instruction; operates machines, and inspects parts utilizing blue print dimensions and prescribed gauges.
• Monitors and verifies quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
• May layout, fabricate and assemble components.
• Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
• Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
• Additional Functions: Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:

• Typically requires a high school diploma, technical/trade school training or equivalent and two or more years related experience.
• Experience operating 5-axis mills.
• Must be customer focused and possess:
• The ability to perform semi-routine set-up and fabrication of machined parts.
• Good knowledge of machining equipment including ability to use judgment and safe practices.
• Ability to read and understand engineering blueprints and diagrams.
• Skills to maintain the flow of work within the unit.
• Good interpersonal skills and written communication skills to interface with employees and supervisor.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
