Job Title: IT Specialist

Location: Lawrenceville, GA

Job Summary:

The IT Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day operational support of IT infrastructure and end-user systems. This role involves maintaining and troubleshooting computer hardware, software, networks, and telecommunication systems, as well as providing technical support to staff. The IT Specialist will also assist in the implementation of new technologies and ensure the security of data and IT systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Support:
  • Provide technical support to end-users for hardware, software, network, and system issues.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical problems in a timely and effective manner.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, applications, and security tools.
  • Assist in the setup and deployment of new computer systems and mobile devices.
  • Network Administration:
  • Monitor and maintain network performance, including LAN, WAN, and VPN connections.
  • Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
  • Ensure network security by implementing and maintaining firewalls, anti-virus software, and other security measures.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control in Active Directory and other systems.
  • System Maintenance:
  • Perform regular system backups and restore processes as needed.
  • Manage and maintain servers, including patch management, updates, and performance tuning.
  • Monitor system performance and resource utilization to ensure optimal operation.
  • Collaborate with vendors for hardware and software procurement, maintenance, and support.
  • Project Support:
  • Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of IT projects, including infrastructure upgrades, software deployments, and network expansions.
  • Participate in the testing and deployment of new applications and systems.
  • Document procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for IT systems and processes.
  • Security and Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with IT security policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Implement and enforce data protection measures and disaster recovery plans.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience:
  • Proven experience as an IT Specialist, IT Support Technician, or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking systems.
  • Experience with network administration, including firewalls, VPNs, and security protocols.
  • Familiarity with server management and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Skills:
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Cisco CCNA are preferred.
