Job Description Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong work behaviors to join our team as a Scientist III within our Cell Biology team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to research projects with the potential to make a significant impact in the scientific community.
US - Grand Island, NY What will you do? - Design experimental plans, lead study execution, analyze experimental data, generate laboratory protocols, and write technical reports, quantitative analyses, and product summaries.
- Design high throughput experiments, liquid handler programming, and analyze data using R programming.
- Work on complex problems of diverse scope where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
- Troubleshoot and solve problems associated with various types of R&D projects.
- Exercise practical judgment within broadly defined practices and policies and exhibit creativity and foresight in selecting approaches and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Interact closely with other internal departments (i.e., Marketing, Business Development, Quality, Operations) in commercializing new products and customer and business support.
- Maintain accurate lab notebook to support the protection of intellectual property following relevant Thermo Fisher required standards.
Education: - Bachelor's degree with 5 plus years of experience, master's degree with 3 plus years of experience, or Ph.D. in Biology, Bioengineering, Bioinformatics, or other related discipline, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Expertise in the methods and techniques of small-scale mammalian cell culture (i.e., shake flasks, deep well plates, ambr15 micro-bioreactors, etc.).
Skills: Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in big data analysis using programming languages.
- Familiarity with database programs and statistical analysis software
- Demonstrated technical project leadership experience.
- Demonstrated competence in data analysis, research design, troubleshooting, and evaluating new techniques and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in big data statistical analysis using R programming.
- Experience in next-generation sequencing data analysis.
- Working knowledge of statistical design of experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis, including JMP, Minitab, or other statistical software.
- Prior industrial experience, particularly in process development and/or cell culture media formulation development.
- Understanding of chemical, biochemical, and physical interactions of cell culture media and reagent components
- Previous experience with cell lines used in bioproduction (e.g. CHO & HEK)
- Familiarity with the operation of bench-top stirred tank bioreactors and related process development laboratory equipment as well as the scale-up of bioreactor and mixing systems.

Compensation and Benefits The salary range estimated for this position based in New York is $83,300.00-$125,000.00.
