Job Duties


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision, uses accounting, auditing, computer, and investigative skills to assist in examining financial evidence of an alleged crime. In a learning capacity, prepares spreadsheets and charts for presentations and courtroom testimony. This is the entry/training level of the Forensic Auditor job series. Incumbents at this level may require additional training or experience to gain full proficiency in some or all of the job responsibilities.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - (Financial Forensic Auditor 1 (FIP120) - $63,423.10) :
Bachelor's degree in forensic accounting, accounting, finance, or business administration from an accredited college or university, which included two basic AND two intermediate OR advance accounting courses.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - ( Financial Forensic Auditor 2 (FIP121) - $66,394.26) :

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, forensic accounting or business administration from an accredited college or university AND Two years of experience required at the lower-level Financial Forensic Auditor 1 (FIP120) or position equivalent. * Candidate must have Certified Fraud Examiners Certification (CFE) to be considered for Financial Forensic Auditor 2 position . PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
In addition to the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to applicants with work experience or certifications in one or more of the following areas:

  • Certified Fraud Examiner
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Certified Internal Auditor
  • Five years of work experience in a related area.
  • Preparing forensic accounting reports from financial findings.
  • Providing accounting expertise to litigation and investigative support.
  • Conducting investigations of fraud and financial abuse.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel including the use of analytical tools used to summarize large volumes of data.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Problem solving ability.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fundamental knowledge of deductive analysis.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Ability to identify signs of suspicious financial activity.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with computers and other electronic equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The incumbent will occasionally be required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel. Occasionally light lifting/or moving boxes or supplies may be required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position requires the incumbent to work in an office setting which includes shared office space with other workforce . In addition, may work closely with other law enforcement agencies and entities.

NOTE: This position may require some travel and operating a state vehicle. A valid Georgia driver's license is required.
