Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operations Officer (CFO/COO)

We are seeking a strategic, hands-on CFO/COO to lead our financial strategy, optimize operations, and drive sustainable growth. This role is critical in ensuring financial health, operational efficiency, and long-term success as we continue to expand our impact. This individual should excel at balancing strategic vision with hands-on execution, ensuring both financial discipline and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in fundraising, capital strategy, and investor relations, along with a data-driven mindset to translate financial insights into business strategy. They must be able to oversee and refine business operations, ensuring scalability and efficiency, while partnering closely with the CEO and leadership team to drive sustainable growth and impact.
KEY ACTIVITIES
Financial Leadership (CFO Responsibilities)
Develop and execute financial strategy to support RefinedScience's growth and mission.
Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.
Lead capital strategy and fundraising efforts, including investor relations, venture financing, and financial partnerships.
Ensure compliance, accounting, and tax optimization, working with auditors and regulatory bodies.
Manage financial reporting, ensuring transparency and alignment with stakeholders.
Drive cost efficiency and financial discipline, optimizing company resources while supporting innovation.
Operational & Strategic Leadership (COO Responsibilities)
Oversee and improve business operations, processes, and scalability strategies.
Ensure operational alignment across finance, HR, legal, commercial, and technology functions.
Partner with the CEO and senior leadership team to refine and execute company strategy and key initiatives.
Manage key vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and operational risk mitigation.
Foster a high-performance culture, ensuring accountability, efficiency, and mission alignment.
Define and drive achievement of KPIs and OKRs for operational success.
Ability to travel up to 50%.
MUST HAVES
10+ years of senior financial leadership experience (CFO, VP Finance, or similar) in a high-growth environment.
Deep expertise in financial planning, fundraising, and capital strategy.
Experience managing P&L, budgeting, risk, and financial compliance.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels.
Experience working closely with CEOs, boards, and investors.
Strong grasp of operational processes and cross-functional leadership.
A passion for mission-driven innovation in life sciences, biotech, or health technology.
NICE TO HAVES
Experience scaling a venture-backed or pre-IPO company.
Background in M&A, IPO readiness, or private financing.
Experience in clinical research, biotech, or healthcare financial models.
Familiarity with AI, data-driven healthcare solutions, or digital health business models.
Strong knowledge of SaaS or biotech operational frameworks.

What We Offer
The target salary range is $221,000 to $335,000 annually.
Base pay offered may vary within the posted range based on several factors, including but not limited to education, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
